Reflecting on older practices in Kerala, the notion of compassionate employment once prevailed, where the job of a government employee would pass on to their children upon their demise. However, this system sometimes led to unintended consequences, as some beneficiaries would abandon their families, leaving them to endure hardship while pursuing their own lives. In February 2018, the compassionate employment scheme, spearheaded by Chandradas, was approved, marking a significant milestone in the realm of employee welfare in Kerala. This pioneering law was crafted with the primary goal of safeguarding the interests of the parents of compassionate employees, providing them with the support they deserve. Under the provisions of this scheme, those employees who fail to uphold their responsibilities towards their compassionate dependents are required to allocate 25% of their monthly income towards their support.
During his service, K. Chandradas received special recognition for his exceptional contribution to society. His dedication was evident when he meticulously added names to the KAAPA list, a testament to his commitment to uplifting communities.
